Q. Who is most likely to get a Sinus Infection? |
|
A. Anyone can get a sinus infection. The first signs of a sinus infection is a cold or nasal allergies. You can put yourself more at risk of getting a sinus infection if you:
- Are exposed to cigarette smoke (both first and/or secondhand)
- Have ear infections (children)
- Have GE reflux (Gastroesophageal reflux)
- Have cystic fibrosis
- Have an immune system problem
- Have deviated nasal septum
- Have poorly functioning cilia
Asthma and sinus infections often go hand in hand. Swimming, breathing cold dry air or attending over-crowded day care
centers
can predispose a child to sinusitis.
