The answer to the above question is No!!!!!!!!! Sinusitis is not contagious.
Sinusitis whether chronic or acute is predominantly caused by not treating ones cold or flu’s in a timely manner and in turn results in one developing sinusitis.
It is only a cold that frequently precedes sinusitis that is contagious and may be spread to those around you.
But what of contracting sinusitis in public swimming pools? In this instance, it is more the preceding cold and flu viruses or bacteria that can pass on through swimming water and not be effectively killed by the chlorine in the water. Some bacteria and virus have a very hard coating which ensures that they are not easily killed.
It is therefore not sinusitis but a common cold or flu that is passed on in swimming water as sinusitis proceeds any untreated cold or flu.
Common symptoms of colds/flu’s or other diseases contracted from the use of public pools:
- Pains in the abdomen or severe stomach cramping as contaminated swimming pool water is often ingested.
- A raised temperature or fever
- An upset stomach or vomiting
- Sore throat, swollen glands
- Dehydration
- Conjunctivitis
- A drop in body weight
- Itching or irritation of the skin
- A red patch appearing on the skin or a rash
- Wounds taking longer to heal or becoming infected
