Asthma
Asthma is defined as a Chronic Problematic lung condition and is characterized by the difficulty in breathing. In many people, asthma appears to be an allergic reaction to substances commonly breathed in through the air, such as:
-
Dust Mite

Animal dander
- Dust mite
- Pollen
- Cockroach waste products
- Molds
- Strong fumes
- Dust
- Smoke
Allergens refer to anything that provokes an allergic reaction. Some people have a genetic predisposition to react to certain Allergens. People with asthma have extra sensitive or hyper-responsive airways.
Their airways react by narrowing or obstructing when they become irritated. This makes it difficult for the air to move in and out. Cells in the airways also produce more mucus than usual. This extra mucus also narrows the airways. This narrowing or obstruction can cause one or a combination of the following symptoms:
- Wheezing
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- Chest tightness
Asthma cannot be cured, but for most patients it can be controlled so that you have only minimal and infrequent symptoms and you can live an active life. |
