Advantages of Nasal Sprays:

• They helps combat irritation caused by dust and pollen
• Some reduce congestion, swelling and inflammation in the sinuses
• Some disallow the release of histamine and prevent allergic reactions
• Help treat an itchy and runny nose
• Helps to relieve stuffiness and congestion
• Some are effective in loosening mucus in nasal passages and moisten the nose
• They are relatively cheaper but you have to continue using them.

Disadvantages of Nasal Sprays:

• Most need to be used with caution if you have heart problems
• The majority of them have not been proven safe to use during pregnancy
• Most need not to be used with care of people who have Hypertension and Hypothyroidism
• Some cause swelling of the nasal membranes
• Most may cause stinging, sneezing, dry mouths and headaches
• The bulk of them have a bitter and unpleasant taste and are not liked by children
• Most can lead to increased irritation, nasal burning and nose bleeds
• They can lead to addiction and chronic swelling of the nasal passages
• Most give temporary relief or relief that last a few hours
• Most are not effective in relieving Rhino-sinusitis or a common colds

Nasal sprays (whether FDA approved or not) are effective when using more than one and the risks of using them are not worth the rewards they bring.
